Graduating Thesis Project: THE BLOOMING TIMES
TW: the following project discusses sexual violence.
The Blooming Times is a thesis project that explores the topic of consent and sexual violence in an unconventional manner. It's an experiential piece that's beautiful as long as you don't look too closely; a dichotomous project that's not about reducing statistics or teaching students how to prevent something that could never be their fault. The Blooming Times stems from the insight that we practice consent outside the context of sex on a daily basis, and so if we were to apply the false beliefs that uphold rape culture to one of these everyday life scenarios it'd be easier to examine and dispel them. This project intends to educate its audience about consent and give them the tools and the inspiration to reconsider their own understanding of the concept. The Blooming Times is born from love and dedicated to those who know someone, and those who are the someone.
The Blooming Times was the winner of the 2022 Paul Stephens Memorial Award.
